Hell of a Book
National Book Award Winner
By Jason Mott
This really wasn't what I expected. A great book at times, funny, sad, surreal, bizarre, but also deeply grounded and real. The book examines a lot, and this was certainly not the main focus (I don't think?) but for me really captured well a particular feeling of helplessness and despair on how so much is falling apart all around us. I didn't love a lot of it, but it was worth sticking with -- great ending.
That said, I found the title distracting, and didn't love the cover.
